What We Believe

Anglicans value Scripture, Tradition and Reason equally. We often use the metaphor of a three-legged stool, with each leg of the stool contributing equally to our balanced approach. Each of the three sources of authority must be perceived and interpreted in light of the other two. We acknowledge the Bible or the Holy Scripture as the Word of God and completely sufficient to our reconciliation to God. The traditions of the Church, teachings, practices, and worship connect all generations and give us guidance to continue our reconciliation to God. We believe that every Christian must build a relationship with God, and to do that, God has given us intelligence which we refer to as “Reason.” Anglicans believe that God gave us each a brain to think and ask questions with, in order to better follow His Divine Will.
